Onoyama Park, Naha's largest park, is just a few Yui Rail stops away from the central Kokusai Street and is a great place where families can spend some relaxing time together. The park includes so many different attractions: from sport areas to Shinto shrines, from games for kids to a lovely pond. Let's explore it together! The park was established in 1959 and is the first sport park in Okinawa. With two swimming pools, an archery field, a baseball field, a sumo ring, a martial arts hall, a climbing wall, and an athletic stadium and much more, Onoyama Park surely is a paradise for athletes. Inside Onoyama Park, there is the Okinawa Cellular Stadium, a baseball stadium for professional players that can accomodate up to 30,000 people. The stadium is also used for concerts, cultural activities and exhibitions. Did you Know? There are three shrines inside Onoyama Park: Gokoku Shrine, Okinogu Shrine and Yomochi Shrine. While Gokoku Shrine is dedicated to the victims of the war, Okinogue and Yomochi Shrines are shrines where people worship deities. There is a huge kids play area in the park with slides of every genre, climbable structures, bridges, nets and all kinds of games that a kid can dream of. Bring your children here and they will easily spend a couple hours running around the area. The games available here are so good that probably even some adults will wish they were a couple decades younger! Onoyama Park is also home to many festivals across the year, like the flower festival held in late January or the Animal Fest in November. It's incredible how a single park can contain so many different attractions. Onoyama Park is the pride of Naha and we definitely recommend visiting it!
