Cape Zanpa is one of the three major capes of Okinawa. It is located about 30 km north of Naha city, on the western coast of central Okinawa, and is famous for the amazing view on the East China Sea. One of the distinctive features of Cape Zanpa is its white lighthouse. It is possible to climb the stairs to the top of this 30 meters tall lighthouse and enjoy an even better view of the sea and its waves crushing into the rocks. On the first floor of the lighthouse, there is a small exhibition room that was established in 2009 by a collaboration between the Yomitan Village and The Nippon Foundation. Not far from the lighthouse, there is a very beautiful statue of Taiki, a diplomat that in the 14th century was sent from the government of Okinawa to China to establish a trade relationship. By walking past the statue, it is possible to reach another small promontory, from where the lighthouse can be admired with the interity of the cape. Did you Know? Differently from capes like Cape Manza or Cape Chinen, there is no fence here along the cliff. For this reason, we recommend extreme caution, particularly on windy days. On the cliff of Cape Zanpa, it is sometimes possible to see some brave (and a bit crazy) fishermen, fishing on the edge of the 30 meters high cliff. Right next to the parking lot, there is a small fun petting zoo, and also Japan's biggest Shisa statue, a 8.75 meters tall and 7.8 meters large lion-dog! Admission Free (Lighthouse ticket 200 yen) Lighthouse Opening Hours May to September: 9:30 - 16:30 October to April: 9:00 - 16:00 TEL - Address Uza, Yomitan, Nakagami District, Okinawa Prefecture 904-0328 Near Cape Zanpa:
