Okinawa World is the best place to experience both the nature and the culture of Okinawa. It is a must visit for any visitor who wants to have fun while learning about the traditions of our island. If you are in the southern part of Okinawa, this is a must visit! Okinawa World was built between two national wonders of Okinawa. The first one is the Valley of Gangala, just 2 minutes from the entrance of Okinawa World (cross the road, and you are there!). The second one is the famous Gyokusendo Cave, which is inside the park. Our recommendation is to start the tour from the cave. After showing your ticket to the staff, you will follow a path that descends in the depths of the cave and zigzags among incredible stalactite formations. For more details about the cave itself, just click on this link, to open the page we dedicated to it. At the exit of the cave, there is Ryukyu Kingdom, a replica of a traditional Ryukyu village. Don't let you fool by the word "replica": some of the houses of the village are real and very ancient, even 100 years old. They were moved here for the creation of the theme park. Four of these houses were even designated cultural treasure and are cared under Japanese law as official historical objects. The atmosphere is very special and makes you immersed in what a traditional Ryukyu village probably looked like! Each house has a workshop inside. There are dozens of activities to try, like Okinawa crafts, such as paper making, pottery, the making of music instruments and glass blowing. Participating in these activities will require an extra fee to be payed directly at the workshops, but it is definitely worth it to try at least one. Another important attraction of Okinawa World is the Eisa Dance show, a traditional drum dance of Okinawa. There is a small theatre inside the park, where several shows are held every day. The show lasts about 30 minutes and is very entertaining. You will be captured by the rythm of the drums and the movement of the dancers. Pictures and videos are not allowed, so be sure to enjoy it just with your eyes! When buying the admission ticket for Okinawa World, it is possible to pay an extra 300 yen to get the admission to the Habu Park. Named after the serpent Habu, this building has a snake museum and a small zoo. If you are on the right time, you can see a thrilling snake show with different kinds of snakes and mongooses.
