The majority of the shop sells typical souvenirs of Okinawa, like little Shisa statues, kariyushi shirts, pottery and ocean-related items. Awamori, the sake of Okinawa, is very common, but it also comes with a variation! If you see a bottle with inside a snake with its fangs wide open, don't get frightened. It is called Habushu, a traditional liquor with the venomous viper inside! Shops in Kokusai Street usually stay open until 22:00, but the nightlife continues until dawn, with bars and izakayas usually staying open until 5:00. Many restaurants and bars even have live Okinawa music, for a more immersive experience! Did you Know? The street is closed to traffic on Sunday, making it ideal to visit it without worrying about traffic ligths and cars. If you visit the street on Sunday morning, you might be lucky enough to see the performance of the traditional Eisa drum dance. In Kokusai Street you will also find the west entrance of First Makishi Public Market. Make sure you have a look at it, for a more local atmosphere (and cheaper prices!).
